General Planning

+
+ +
+

Purpose

+

The purpose of this image should be to show that things will always distract you from what you actually need to do and in the process of this, time will be lost. It’s supposed to show the wrong way to organize your time.

+
+ +
+

Target Audience

+

The picture is intended for anyone with a great goal they want to achieve. I want this image to show them procrastination so they might think to themselves and ask if that's what they were doing.

+
+ +
+

Subject/Props

+

The primary subject will be my little sister. The supporting objects will be some homework and tools such as a pen or pencil. Anything in general that relates to the homework. The subject will not be focused on the homework though. She will instead, be distracted (probably with a computer) clearly ignoring the homework. There will also be something very obvious that shows the time. This is symbolism for the time being wasted on other things.

+
+ +
+

Background

+

Probably something very blank but fits the mood of the rest of the scene. Probably the less objects, the better.

+
+ +
+

Exposure

+

Do you need average exposure (not too bright, not too dark)? Perhaps a very dark underexposed picture, or maybe overexposed? +For this image, the exposure should be plain and without any focus or articulation on any item in the photo.

+
+ +
+

Focus (Sharpness)

+

Should your picture be sharp throughout or should only some parts be sharp for emphasis? +The focus should be clear throughout the picture. I think that since all objects require each other for this picture to make sense, the whole image should be in focus.

+
+ +
+

Scope (Fill the Frame)

+

What should you include in your picture? What should you leave out? How close should you zoom in order to leave out unimportant components but still capture the important ones? +
+Props that add onto the main focus of the image should be used to fill the frame just enough and not too much to the point it would be distracting. the said props should also contribute to the main subject of the picture. That being said, the previously mentioned props such as work (as the goal) with tools, and a clock representing the misuse of time as well as a distraction (probably a computer).

+
+ +
+

Pose/Arrange

+

How should you pose or arrange your subjects for best effect? +The main subject should be focused on the destruction. The other items that are supposed to have the attention will be left aside.

+
+ +
+

Graphic File Format

+

What is the best file format for this picture? Should it be bitmap or vector, high or low resolution, compressed or uncompressed? +The final product should probably be JPEG. While working with it, I will probably save the actual project instead of exporting thus making sure compression only happens at the very end.

Reflection

I think my image turned out decent, reason being is that the idea and concept are there, but the way the picture was taking doesn’t properly emphasize and give away a very deep feeling. I don’t exactly know how to achieve this properly. I think everything else was fine since I think the image demonstrates what I wanted it to. I definitely could’ve done better though with space if I had found a better place. There is still a lot of room for improvement.

I call this a partial success because near the end, when I added the extra labels, I feel that it broke the emmersion a bit. If I was to make some changes, I would make the labels less intrusive, and also tone down on the motion blur. My original idea was to use the motion blur to remove the destractions around the subject, but this kind of backfired as it made the picture slightly more messy.

Review

Harrison’s Final Image is a photo of the Human Rights Museum. The Photo itself is a good photo, and in my opinion, the photo manages to strike a wonderful balance between a scenic shot and a shot of a model. The Human Rights Museum is quite small, however given that we receive the horizon as well as the museum, I don’t mind. The use of the rule of thirds helps validate the photo as a whole and is the real reason why I consider Harrison’s photo to be excellent. +
+ In Photoshop, Harrison added a Heads Up Display, and a sense of motion. The HUD is futuristic with a compass, a cyber-circle a holographic object, what appears to be a terminal, and a couple more items. +
+ The mistake that hurt the most was the brightness of the image. It is hard to read the HUD when the image is so bright. For example, at first, I had no Idea why the blur effect present on Harrison's photo gave the sensation of motion. I thought it as a mistake on Harrison’s part. However the HUD shows a speed at the bottom left. In a situation where I could properly read the HUD, I easily would have known why Harrison had included that specific type of blur, however since the strain on my eyes was a tad bit too uncomfortable for me, I didn’t know and became confused. +
+ Luckily enough, the clarity of the HUD is the only major problem I have with Harrison's image. The File size is something to take note (68MB) however given that compressing the photo would have ruined the image I can’t say the decision was bad. +
+ In summary, the photo is amazing, the photo shopping skills are impressive but the brightness of the background kills the image for me. It becomes impossible to truly enjoy the photo when you can’t read the “eye candy” in a sense.

This was my final image manipulation. Added a simple heads up display for the sake of it, and later added the advertising scheme to it.
